Jacksonville Sharks ink Defensive Lineman Ventrell Jenkins

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Sharks welcome rookie defensive lineman Ventrell Jenkins to the roster.

Ventrell Jenkins (6’2, 285 lbs), a former Kentucky Wildcat, joins theSharks after spending time with the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals during the 2009 NFL season. Jenkins joined the Bills as an undrafted free agent in August, but was released shortly after an ankle injury. After clearing waivers, Jenkins was picked up by the Bengals, but saw limited action.

Jenkins collegiate career left Wildcat fans with wonderful memories. A three-year starter, Jenkins switched from defensive tackle, the position he played for 33 games for UK, to a 13-game starter at defensive end. While at Kentucky, Jenkins notched over 100 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks. Jenkins final game in blue was capped with agame winning 56-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown – along with a “stiff arm heard round the world” – to give Kentucky a bowl victory. Jenkins was named Liberty Bowl MVP.

The Jacksonville Sharks are members of the Arena Football 1 (AF1)league. All home games will be played at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The home season kicks off April 16th as the Sharkstake on the Orlando Predators.
